Christina Lindley - A New Poker Hottie

Christina is more known for her lingerie shoots for Maxim and modeling assignments for Playboy, but that does not mean that she is not serious about poker. Her poker life began about four years back when she did a commercial for an online poker room in which she played Antonio Esfandiari’s girl friend. Since then she has been tutored by Esfandiari, blackjack pro Ken Einegar, Jeff “Prairie Dog” Mansen and Hollywood Dave Stann. Her favorite poker pros are Barry Greenstein and Sammy Farha, and among the women she looks up to Annie Duke, Jennifer Harman, and Jennifer Tilly, though Shannon Elizabeth will never be her role model.

Christina took to playing poker during the writer’s strike in Hollywood. She wrote a concept for a poker show, which she showed to Kasey Thompson the owner of ALL IN poker magazine. One does not know what happened to the show, but Christina was introduced to the world of poker brand ambassadors. She writes of that breed in most flattering terms, “… who did nothing but party, travel the world with their friends, drink, and play cards all night. They had no one to answer to but themselves...oh yeah, and their backers, on occasion. Being a professional poker player was like being Peter Pan - but rich. I was immediately hooked.”

Then Christina began to prepare herself for that lifestyle. She ate poker, she drank poker and she lived poker. Poker shows, poker books, live poker tournaments and online poker tournaments became her staple diet. To top it all she received constant coaching from some of the top pros in the industry. Christina also realized that is a difference between male and female poker players. In her blog she writes, “I also realized that as a woman it was a completely different ball game playing with the big boys. They immediately either push way to hard against you, or “instafold”. Either way, that is not usually what you want!”

This led to her third poker activity. Christina has decided to form a team of lady poker players. She calls the team TWC. She does not want to say what the initials stand for but it should not be too difficult to guess. One of the reasons for this stems from her observation that there is bonhomie among the guys on the poker circuit, but there is bitchiness among the women. Christina intends to change this. She feels that if she succeeds women will start faring better in tournaments.

Her favorite game is No Limit Hold’em and she would love to hold a pocket of aces. She does not have committed views on the larger poker issues such as delaying the final table in the WSOP main event or on online poker prohibition. But politically she votes for the Democrats. On the 31st of May she played in a celebrity charity for Mentors For Youth, and Last Chance For Africa. This was held at the Hawaiian Gardens in Los Angeles. Earlier in May she played for a charity event organized by coach and friend Dave Stann at the Velvet Margarita Cantina, where she was one of the two women players.

In an interview with Jenny Woo of Gambling911.com Christina said that she has not been naturally endowed with a good body and has had to work very hard to maintain her figure and shape. She thanks her dietician Tony Haines for her traffic stopper looks, who puts her on a healthy diet of fish and asparagus before any shoot. In the interview Christina let out another secret. She is just out of a relationship, and for the moment intends to stay single.
